Over the years, the pasture at Pi has been stomping group for myriad wildlife, but for the first time it hosts a pair of quail. The male and female stay together, perching along fences and railings. No babies, yet.
But yesterday I discovered a single quail egg just under the fender of my car. I looked all around, including under the car, but couldn’t find any siblings. I brought the egg inside to keep it from getting crushed in the driveway and to keep an eye on it.
So, what to do? I follow the quail duo every day hoping to discover their cache. If I find it, should I put the little egg into the nest?
